"For Whom The Gavel Falls" is written from Snively's point of view, which, along with some impressive writing, makes this story worth reading. It's an awesome story, except for the parts with Bunnie. You'll see what I mean. Also, Snively's sarcasm gets a little annoying, but his views of and interactions with the Freedom Fighters are hilarious and more than make up for it. | Robotnik has taken over Mobius, now renamed 'Planet Robotropolis'. Years after the defeat of Sonic & the Freedom Fighters were defeated, new heroes rise up to fight Robotnik's forces. Well, despite a few things, I have no problems for grammar & such... But as for the story, I just couldn't really get into it, myself. There are only three of the official characters in here, and they're all the villains, and I guess I also have a problem with the fact that Sonic (the only one of the FFs named, BTW) seems to play a small part overall. Yeah I know, Robotnik probably wouldn't have taken over if they had been alive, but still, they don't seem to be much more than an afterthought... But anyway, these are just my opinions, don't let me stop you from reading. :P

| Sandra Nightweaver has been haunted by strange dreams lately. Being a reasonable vixen, Sandra tells herself that they are not omens. But when the Freedom Fighters embark on a strange mission through the dephs of the Mobian Jungle to investigate a strange power source, Sandra discovers a new meaning to the saying, "once in a blue moon." An excellent story, but pretty slow-paced, so you might want to multi-task through this. The ending is well worth it though. | Eggman attacks the only human-inhabited place on Mobius, Pritchard Island, to steal the gems there in order to take over the world. The island's guardian, Samuel Pritchard, finds the Knothole Freedom Fighters and Knuckles, seeking their help in reclaiming the stolen gems which Robotnik has hidden in various Zones.
The writing is extremely choppy and the grammar and word choice can be bad, making this story unintentionally funny at times. There's very little characterization or description; this story is an action adventure all the way. The hybrid universe is original, and the action scenes take advantage of it. Marble Rain! Wooo!
Some minor cursing and um, blood makes this story PG instead of G. Aw well.

First of all, I have to say that this is NOT a bad story. However, there are a few things that stick out that detract from my enjoyment. The way Sonic & Tails act throughout, unfortunately, doesn't FEEL like Sonic & Tails at several points. I can understand what the authors were getting at in why they're acting as they are, but the way it's done seems too sudden with no real build-up to it. As well, what happens to one particular character comes off as not having that much impact because that is, really, the only thing DONE with that character in the story. It's hard to say what that is without giving spoilers, unfortunately... Plus, the the characters act towards the end at one point feels inappropriate for the events that had just taken place.
Again, though, this is NOT to say this is a bad story. I still recommend checking it out, as it's not often these days one can find a story this long that really tries to tell a coherent, good story. :) There's just a few aspects I felt could have been a bit more polished, these aspects mostly being the characterization.

| In Kurt Kieser's second piece of Sonic fiction, Freedom Fighter Lieutenant Grayson has discovered that Robotnik has plans for the Star of Rhodesia, a powerful crystal. Two days after he sets out to find the plans and crystal and has not reported back to Knothole, the F.F.s start worrying. They are too late to stop Lt. Grayson from being roboticized, but before he is, he leaves the Freedom Fighters with one last cryptic message that begins the mystery of the Star of Rhodesia and the search for a Colonel Moran. This is what we rarely see; a Sonic mystery! Very suspenseful; right when you think you've guessed who it is, the story takes another turn. Except for one case of stupidity on "Colonel Moron"'s part and one continuity error (Mobians don't use bullet weapons), this story is a must read! Rated PG for implied sex. | Four Freedom Fighters, Neophyte, Anarchis, Cyto and Vassily set out to find Knothole. Meanwhile, Robotnik is continuing his sweep of the Great Forest for the same village. A very good story, but the "lusty Overlanders" thing failed miserably. There are better ways of writing an effective villian than making him a pervert. On another note, this is Ali's first fanfic, and she has improved a lot since. If you enjoyed this, I'd recommend her other fics; "The New Season" and "For Whom the Gavel Pounds" in the After Robotnik Section, and "Playing Dead" in this section. | Sonic and Tails find a new ally, Dawn, on a scouting mission. The plot seems okay, but Dawn has some trouble portraying characters correctly. Dawn isn't very familiar with Sonic because he doesn't get the comics where he lives. Dawn portrays the FFs as a military group like the Rebel Alliance, when actually, all they are is a family that has to fight for what it believes in, which is why this story, like his other ones, turned out pretty screwed up. And having Dawn always saying, "Force speed!" and "Force jump!" gets really annoying. But the Eggman insults near the end were pretty funny. | In this story set in the SEGA universe, Sonic envies Tails' flying abilities and decides to try to fly himself by whipping up a tornado. But then something goes wrong, and it's up to Tails to save his hero! A good story in its own right, but not much plot. Oh well, you can't expect a Final Fantasy type storyline when you only have two main characters. It's pretty short, so if you're pressed for time, just read this quickly.

| Zero Prower's first fanfic, so welcome him to the HQ! This is what is commonly known as a deathfic. It basically talks about how the Knothole Freedom Fighters, along with fan characters Spartacus the badger and Zero Prower the kitsune, investigate Sonic's untimely demise in Robotnik's trap. Naturally, being a first fic, there are cliches like, well, the whole death thing (though to be fair this is more of a subgenre than a cliche), and various self-insertion gimmicks (Zero being Tails' brother who's good at everything with a Freedom Fighter who's in love with him)... but the writing is not bad at all.
